Box Truck Cab & Front-End Repair in Austin, TX

We repair the cab and chassis of a box truck - the front end. We do not repair the box body behind it. That line is unusual to see published, and it is the most useful thing we can tell you before you load one on a wrecker.

Almost every shop that advertises box truck repair implies it does all of it: cab, box, roll-up door, liftgate, floor, the lot. We looked at how this is presented across the market and found essentially nobody who states a limit. So here is ours, up front.

Luxury Auto Body repairs the cab and chassis. Front-end collision damage, bumper and corner damage, fenders, hood, doors, the windshield surround, structural and frame work, and refinishing - the automotive part of the truck. The box behind the cab is a separately manufactured body, built and repaired by a different trade, and we do not work on it.

That is not a small carve-out and it is not most of the truck. But cab damage is far and away the most common thing that happens to a box truck, because these are vehicles driven into tight docks, low canopies and narrow alleys by drivers who are not always the owner. If that is what happened to yours, it is squarely our work. Call (512) 986-7327 for Austin or (512) 572-5245 for Round Rock and describe the damage, or send a photo.

What We Repair, and What We Do Not

Read this before you arrange transport. If the damage is on both sides of the line, tell us and we will be straight about which half we can take.

  • WE DO: front and rear bumper, corners, fenders, hood, grille and headlight assemblies
  • WE DO: cab doors, door alignment, the windshield surround and cab structure
  • WE DO: chassis and frame straightening, and structural repair to the cab
  • WE DO: rust and corrosion work on the cab, and refinishing in our own paint booths
  • WE DO NOT: the box or cargo body itself - panels, skin, corner posts, framing
  • WE DO NOT: roll-up or swing doors on the box, or the door track
  • WE DO NOT: liftgates - installation, repair or the liftgate pocket
  • WE DO NOT: box floors, E-track, scuff boards or interior cargo fittings
  • WE DO NOT: refrigeration units, or anything on a reefer body

Why the Cab and the Box Are Different Jobs

It is a fair question, because from outside it is one vehicle. It is not one vehicle to the people repairing it.

The cab and chassis are automotive. Same steel, same structural standards, same measuring and pulling equipment, same refinishing process as any truck we repair - and the same manufacturer repair procedures. That is what a collision center like ours is built and equipped to do.

The box is a separate manufactured body, usually bolted or mounted onto a cutaway or cab-and-chassis. It is built by a body manufacturer rather than the truck maker, often from riveted aluminum or composite panels over a framed structure, and it is repaired by shops that specialize in exactly that. A shop that does both well is a genuinely different operation from ours.

There is also a practical limit worth knowing: our paint booth doors are 11 feet 6 inches tall and our bay doors are 18 feet. A box truck cab clears that comfortably. Plenty of box bodies do not.

What Usually Brings a Box Truck In

These are the cab repairs we see most, and all of them are ours:

  • Front corner and bumper damage from a loading dock, a bollard or a tight alley
  • Mirror, fender and door damage from squeezing past something
  • Roof and windshield-surround damage from a low canopy or a drive-through - on the CAB; damage to the top of the box is not ours
  • Collision damage from another vehicle, with an insurance claim behind it
  • Long-term corrosion at the rockers, steps and lower cab
  • Cosmetic reconditioning on a truck about to be sold or handed back at lease end

Downtime, Honestly

Nobody in this market publishes a turnaround time. We are not going to be the first to publish one we cannot hold to on a truck we have not seen - the damage and the parts situation decide it, not a number on a web page.

What we will do is put a timeline in writing with your estimate, and shorten the part of it that is actually controllable. If the truck is drivable and safe, send photos and we will write the estimate, get the claim moving and order parts before it ever comes in. Most of the lost days on a commercial repair are waiting on parts and approvals, not labor - and both of those can start while the truck is still working.

If you run several trucks, ask about a fleet account so the next one does not start from scratch.

We Tell You the Limit First

Cab and chassis yes, box body no. You get that before you arrange transport, not after a wasted trip across town. Almost nobody in this market publishes a limit at all.

Cab Work Is Ordinary Work Here

A box truck cab is a truck cab. Same steel, same structural repair, same measuring equipment and the same refinishing process we use on everything else in the building.

It Clears Our Doors

Bay doors 18 feet tall, paint booth doors 11 feet 6 inches. A cab goes in without a conversation.

Lifetime Written Warranty

Commercial repairs carry the same written lifetime guarantee on our workmanship as every other vehicle we repair.
